More Dresses

June 14, 2009

I am working on a quilt for my niece and have it on the frame. I’m almost finished, thank God, then I can get back to my other quilts. I have several I am in the process of piecing. I haven’t put any new baby quilts on my site in quite a while so I need to get some fresh things on there. I’ll post when I have something to show on the quilt side.

I have been working on more dresses for Miss Elly. I’m trying out different patterns with the thought I might put some on my web-site for sale.  This is just a thought since right now between sewing for Miss Elly, quilting, and everyday life events, I don’t know when I would have time for anything else. But, we’ll see.

Here are some of the dresses I have made recently. I think I’ve done enough for summer although I still have so many patterns I want to try

but how many dresses can a little girl wear? I’m thinking I’ll start on fall outfits now.

So, here they are:

100_0519I have ironed this since the picture.I made the bows detachable so it can be worn as a sundress this summer.

100_0526Here it is with the little blouse I made to go with it. There are also panties in the lavender gingham to match.

100_0504100_0507I don’t know if you can tell, but the panties have ruffles on them also. I have taken the flower off the front until I decide if I want it there. I may wait and ask our daughter what she thinks. The bows are detachable for washing.

100_0544I’m not sure of this one. I think the skirt needs to be fuller so the next one I make I’ll put more fabric in the skirt.

That’s it for sewing for today. I did want to show some pictures of my finches on the porch. They are so fun to watch and such a vivid color. It amazes me that they lose all of their color in the winter. I know when spring is coming by the color change of the finches. I’m also putting a picture of my hummingbirds. I don’t know how many I have but it seems like hundreds. Can you tell I love watching birds?

100_0458This isn’t even close to how many gather on each one just before dark.

100_0042This little bugger has been flying against my window off and on for over 3 years. He’s here winter and summer so we wake to his beak hitting the window in the morning and it continues all day. We don’t know if he sees his reflection, if he can see through the house to the outside and want to go through, or if he is just a few bricks short of a full load. But, he can be both irritating and endearing.

Look at this face. The face of a demon and angel all wrapped into one.  He rules the roost here.

That’s it for today, happy sewing & quilting!
